I started this song off very simply with a drum loop and the base line which was relatively easy to figure out. I then practiced on the piano. I had the melody down but not the chords. I figured out that it was a I IV V with the V at the bottom. I then kept playing until I figured out the chords. I recorded that piano melody, and added supporting sax, trumpet, and trombone sounds. I also added the cowbell while doing this. After I had the melodic parts recorded I started working on solos. I tried to recreate the first solo on the sax, and the rest was free. It took many attempts on the piano before I recorded one that I was satisfied with. To finalize the song I added depth by recording with the bass clarinet and improvised with it as well. It was much harder to record with a mic because tuning, tone, and volume control were all crucial.
